We had a mini pre-wedding shoot the day before and we told our photographer that we were going to Hongdae the next day. She suggested that we try her most favorite cake in Hongdae, and so we did. She told us that she got this as her birthday cake last year so we got really curious. We made our way to Peony after navigating through Hongdae’s roads of endless shops selling everything from clothes to accessories to street food and just about anything.

MENU. I wasn’t able to take a photo of their menu because we were only there for the cake that our photographer recommended. I think they also serve coffee and drinks.
We ordered 1 slice of strawberry shortbread cake, and 1 slice of dark chocolate cheesecake.

FOOD. We absolutely love their cakes. It didn’t taste too sweet or too fulling, it was just right. We finished the strawberry shortcake in like five minutes because it was airy and light. We also love how the dark chocolate cheesecake was not too sweet and was served in a thin layer which was just right.

TOTAL BILL. We paid KRW 12,100 (~PHP 525) in total for both cakes. I think it’s reasonable considering cake slices here in the Philippines are only slightly cheaper than that.

Would I recommend this place? YES! People sometimes line up here to get a table but good thing we didn’t need to wait too long when we were there. I love that both the cakes that we tasted were not too sweet and not too dense. Definitely try this if you’re in Hongdae.
